It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean (Jeanne) Spittlehouse announces her passing on November 6, 2023, at Southbridge Roseview Manor at the age of 91.

Jeanne was born in Kakabeka (Marks Township) Ontario on May 11, 1932, to Arthur and Hallie Cowper and moved to Port Arthur to attend Port Arthur Collegiate. She then married and raised her children. Mom worked in several different careers, Arthur Cafe, Sears, her own restaurant at the PUC, Barewood just to name a few until her retirement.

She spent her retirement years with Chuck enjoying boating, entertaining a wide circle of great friends and many crafts and hobbies. She also spent several of those years volunteering for various organizations.

She leaves behind her children Jennifer Drew, Randy Munn, Maureen Deas, Lori White, as well as Jeff Spittlehouse, Janet Middaugh, Dale DiCasmirro and Valery Pankhurst, their spouses — and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who all loved her very much.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck) Spittlehouse and by several family members, including her brothers Art Cowper, his wife Darilyn, Ken Cryderman and Alvin Cryderman.

As we say our final goodbyes, we find solace in knowing that her kind spirit is finally free from the grip of dementia. She will be remembered, not for the disease that took her from us, but for the remarkable and caring person she was throughout her life. We extend our gratitude to all the healthcare professionals and caregivers who supported her during her battle. Their compassion, dedication and unwavering care brought comfort during her most challenging moments. We are forever grateful for their invaluable contributions.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so by going to the Sargent and Son Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
