Jennifer McKibbon (nee Fleguel) passed away suddenly on July 19, 2024 with the love of her life, Gary, by her side at the age of 66 years. Survived by her husband of forty five years, Gary McKibbon, she is lovingly remembered by her daughter Emily Todd (Graeme, Silas, Saige) and son Samuel McKibbon (Amy, Hadley), sisters Nancy Wehlau (Bruce), Rosemary Fleguel, brothers Tim Fleguel and David Fleguel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jennifer was predeceased by her parents and brothers Bob and Jack Fleguel.

Born to Lloyd and Marguerite Fleguel (nee Maxwell) on September 27, 1957, in Bancroft Ontario, Jennifer lived in many areas of Ontario in her childhood and youth, finally making Northwestern Ontario her forever home in 1978 with her husband Gary. As a stay-at-home mother for her children’s early years, she gave herself wholeheartedly to her community through various volunteer and committee roles as well as acting as a Red Lake town councillor for twelve years. When Jennifer re-entered the workforce, she found an interest in public health and dedicated her time and intellect towards proactive and preventative health initiatives including smoking cessation and legislation. After briefly retiring, Jennifer felt called to return to the workforce to assist the initiative of Grand Council Treaty 3 in connecting surrounding First Nations communities to high-speed internet.

Jennifer was a woman of great faith. She had a heart for the marginalized, vulnerable, and hurting and always went out of her way to show God’s love to those who needed it. She had an adventurous spirit, traveled widely with her family, and made many memories on the motorcycle with Gary and on the water with her family. She loved gardening, loved to host and entertain, and delighted in cooking and caring for others. One of her biggest sources of pride were her children and grandchildren, and the unconditional love she shared with them will live on as her greatest legacy.
