Joseph Toset, a kind, loving Father, Grandfather, son, and brother passed away suddenly and peacefully at the long-term care home he resided in.

At 62 years old, on the evening of Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, Joseph was called home to the Spirit World. With his Aunt Marie by his side, she held his hand and ensured he was with loved ones in the room and on the phone.

Joe was a firefighter when his children were young, in Armstrong, Ontario. He was a strong, great worker and he loved classic rock music.

He lived in Thunder Bay for his entire adult life, where he met his dear lifelong friend, Diane Gagnon. She birthed two beautiful children, Laura and Tyrone Gagnon.

Joe was extremely proud of all his three grandchildren, Tynice, Titan, and Titus Gagnon.

In addition to his son, daughter, and grandchildren, he is truly missed and will be remembered by his Father Duncan Toset, sisters Celina and Doretta, cousins Heather and Craig, as well as many nieces and nephews including Kayla and Mitchell who he used to take care of and walk to school when his sister Doretta required support.

One time, Joe was on a road trip and he drove to visit his eldest sister Betty Lou. Deep down, he knew how to keep the family connected. Joe would always be happy to help people move, shop, do chores or make deliveries of essential items.

He is predeceased by his Mother Charlotte Ashpenaquestcum, step-Mother Louise Nagotchi, brother Brian Toset, and lifelong friend Diane Gagnon.

A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent and Son Funeral Home at 21 N Court Street. Reverend Gerry McDougall will officiate. A small service and burial will commence at Riverside Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
