Mrs. Kathy Lake, age 84 years, resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at TBRHSC with family by her side on December 26, 2024. Born on February 29, 1940 in Port Arthur, she was raised and educated in Thunder Bay and attended Port Arthur Technical School. She enjoyed her career as a teacher with the Lakehead Board of Education, retiring in 1995 after more than 35 years. Kathy enjoyed travelling, cruising the world, shopping, watching the Blue Jays as a member of the spring training club, and the 16 years of her retirement she spent in Florida with Denis. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and cheering them on in their activities. She also had great fun with her high school graduation group over the years.
She is survived by her husband Denis, her daughters Kristine (Peter) and Debbie (Colin), her grandchildren Julian, Anna (Brandon), and Christopher, her niece Helen, her sister-in-law Mary Lake, and her nephew Jeffrey. She also has a number of relatives in Finland. Kathy especially enjoyed connecting with her cousin Markku and his family a number of years ago.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents Karl and Jenny Kari, her brother Teddy, and her brother-in-law Gary Lake.
Cremation has taken place. As per Kathy’s wishes, no service will be held. A private interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
