It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that the family of Kevin Peter Hill announce his unexpected passing on January 31, 2025 at the age of 65.
Kevin was born on February 13,1959 in Port Arthur, Ontario.
He was a loving and loyal son to Gordon and Eleanor (Servais) Hill, husband to Kathy Ferguson, brother to Marion (Tim) Biloski, Fred (Teresa) Hill, and uncle to Matthew and Daniel (Erika) Hill. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Kevin knew that he had a heart of gold. He was a true gentleman that always showed respect and kindness to all those he met. Kevin was a caring and selfless man who always wanted to help others, never expecting anything in return. His generosity towards others was immeasurable.
In 2004 Kevin married the love of his life Kathy Ferguson. They spent many happy years together until her unfortunate passing in 2015.
From a young age he was an extremely hard working individual. He worked at various jobs throughout his life, always going over and above at any job he performed. Kevin spent over 30 years as a 2nd class stationary engineer at Resolute paper mill. A job he took great pride in.
Kevin attended St.Bernard Elementary School and Hammarskjold High School. Like most kids growing up on Robinson Drive, he felt lucky to have a wonderful childhood shared with great neighbours. Over the years many adventures were had, making memories that lasted a lifetime. He spent countless hours skiing, swimming, playing football, baseball and hockey with the neighborhood kids. As a child Kevin loved fishing with his mother and friends. As he grew older he cherished the time he spent fishing with his uncles and cousins, and duck hunting at Whitefish Lake with his buddies.
As a teenager he was quite the daredevil taking up the sport of hang gliding. He had a love for speed and found joy in driving his corvettes, and following the sport of car racing.
Kevin had a lifelong passion for collecting antique furniture and classic cars. He also had a love for remote control airplanes. He was a member of Lakehead Aeromodellers and really enjoyed spending countless hours constructing and fine tuning his planes and flying them with fellow club members.
Kevin loved to travel. When he was younger he enjoyed his annual trips to Barbados and became good friends with some of the locals. He and his wife Kathy also enjoyed traveling together, taking them to destinations of their own.
Kevin had a love for exotic animals. As a child he owned an alligator, a myna bird, a chameleon, iguanas, piranhas, and as a teen, a boa constrictor. He and his wife Kathy shared a love for cats. They enjoyed the antics and time spent with their long lived cats Shady and Kitty-Kat.
Kevin is predeceased by his wife Kathy, parents Gordon and Eleanor Hill, as well numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Please join the family in celebrating Kevin’s life on Sunday, February 23 2025, at 12:30pm at the DaVinci Centre, 340 Waterloo St S.
