Leo Allan Wayrynen, age 87, passed away on Saturday June 29th, 2024 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Leo was born in Hornepayne, ON August 8, 1936 and grew up in the Dorion area, later attending Port Arthur Technical and Commercial High School in 1951, after which he attended trade school to become an auto mechanic. Leo worked at Port Arthur Motors, Ontario Ministry of Transportation and later started A-One Filter, which he operated for over 20 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, growing up x-country skiing and running and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Past Master of Shuniah Lodge #287, where he started the annual fish derby in 1980 that ran for over 30 years. Leo greatly enjoyed the service within the Masonic Lodge and the fellowship with his lodge brothers.

Leo is survived by his wife Diana; his daughter Judy (Jack) Korppi and their son Jesse, great grandsons Jaycen & Jagger, their daughter Jasmine (Marc) Maisonneuve, great granddaughter Eloise; his son Allan (Laurie) Wayrynen and their son Max, daughter Dayna, as well as numerous relatives in Finland.

He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Helvi Wayrynen; his sister Helge and his fist wife Frances Wayrynen.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place.
