It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Nikki Maronik at the age of 91. Nikki was born on April 14, 1933 in Port Arthur. Nikki started her retail working career at an early age with Lowerys, Eatons and Sears until retirement. She was a long time member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church.
Nikki and Rudy both moved to Chartwell Arundel Street some 10 years ago and although Rudy passed away on May 11th, 2021 Nikki continued to love life to the fullest until her passing on October 20th, 2024. Nikki was a blessing, funny and always positive to all who encountered her throughout her life. A special thanks to Olga Yozipovic for her daily visits and always checking on Nikki's well being. Nikki also loved Patti, Stephanie and April at Chartwell who were extremely kind to her and she blossomed with encouraging words to everyone. She will be missed by many people. A bright twinkling star Nikki was.
Her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren. To this day they all remember those times with tier. When they were young children and as grown adults she was a constant participant in their lives. They acquired many things from Grandma and to this day the memories they cherish with her will never be forgotten.
Nikki was a woman filled with kindness, generosity, patience and love. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Carol Pilley (Mike), son Peter Maronik (Crystal) (B,C.) and son-in-law Steve Borovoy (Ottawa ON). Nikki's wonderful grandchildren are Brooke Pilley (Min), Bonnie Grant, (Ian), David Borovoy, Julia Borovoy, (Ottawa ON), Ashley Maronik (Jeff Belak) (Calgary, AB), Koran Webster (Ryan) (London, ON). Her great grandchildren are Charlotte and Veronica Pilley, Jasper and Henry Grant, Bentley, Mason and Carter Webster, Carson and Taylor Belak and the youngest Ava Kearns. Sisters-in-law Olga Yozipovic, Evelyn Polich and Annie Zadro.
Predeceased by her husband Rudy Maronik, daughter Linda Borovoy, parents John and Nellie Zadra, brother George Zadro, sister Eileen Madunic and brothers-in-law, Frank Polich, Tony Yozipovic and Ivan Madunic.
The family would like to express our thanks to Dr. Spicer, Chartwell (Arundel St.), Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Care Group.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration Of Life for both Rudy and Nikki Maronik on November 22, 2024 (Friday) at Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel on Court Street at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to St. Joseph’s Care Group.
“l’M FREE”
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day to laugh,
to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void;
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
“Ah yes” these things I too will miss.
Do not burden with times of sorrow,
I wish you the “sunshine of tomorrow”.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
