It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pasquale (Achille) D’Angelo at the age of 83 on February 11, 2025. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Pasquale was born in Bisenti, Teramo, Italy on July 10, 1941. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his mother Grazia, and siblings Corradino, Maria, and Giulio, joining his father Antonio to begin a new chapter in Thunder Bay.
In 1961, Pasquale met his beloved wife Lucia, and the two danced their way through life together. Whether at family celebrations or in their own home, they always found joy in the music and each other’s company. Pasquale was often the life of the party sharing his homemade wine and filling the room with his humour, singing and of course playing the squeeze box. His glowing smile and contagious laugh would light up any space, leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone he met.
He had a long career in construction beginning in Italy at the age of 13. Starting his own business P. D’Angelo and Sons in 1985 was the highlight of his career. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and a lasting imprint on the community through the countless buildings he helped create, each one a testament to his craftsmanship.
While he took immense pride in his work, Pasquale's greatest moments of happiness were spent enjoying his favourite pastimes: laughter with family and friends, a homemade meal, and a game of cards or bocce. He made countless beautiful memories travelling to Acapulco with family and friends to escape the winters. In his final months, he found great joy spending precious time with his great-grandchild, Sutton.
He loved watching and supporting the local soccer organizations Juventus, Italia, and The Chill. He was a long-time member and avid supporter of the Italian Cultural Centre, Da Vinci Centre, and St. Anthony’s Parish.
Pasquale will be sadly missed by his adoring wife of 61 years, Lucia (nee Curci). He is lovingly remembered by his children: Tony, Grace, Robert (Cheryl) and Linda (Bill). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Kelsi (Dustin), Eric (Megan), Jillian, Connor (Fergie), Nicholas, Taylor and William, as well as brother and sister-in-law Giulio (Lucia), brother-in-law Antonio Curci, sister-in-law Antonietta Curci, numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Wonderful memories of Pasquale will be forever cherished by Kim and Pat as well as plenty of neighbours and friends.
Pasquale is predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Grazia, parents-in-law Nicola and Concetta Curci, brother and sister-in-law, Corradino (Mary), sister and brother-in-law, Maria (Pietro Muraca), Curci in-laws: Angelo, Vincenzo, Speranza, Giovanni, Giuseppina, Raffaella (Giuseppe Napolitano), Nunziatia (Giovanni Natale) and other extended family members.
The family would like to thank Dr. B. Minty, Megan Ross NP, Bayshore HealthCare, and ParaMed; Special thanks to Julie, Imelda, Frances, Taylor, and Laxmi for their care and compassion.
