It is with sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Orr announces the end of his life on September 8, 2024 at 95 years of age.

Bob was born on October, 26, 1928 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. He was a well-known rugby player and boy scout leader. At the age of 18, he won a scholarship and became a teacher where he taught for six years in Northern Ireland. It was at that time he met Elizabeth McAuley whom he later married on July 8, 1952.

In 1954, Bob was invited by the Canadian Government to teach in Fort William, Ontario. Bob began his lengthy career of 35 years as a primary school teacher, and later spent most of his years teaching high school where he retired as the Head of Geography at Fort William Collegiate. He was a very beloved man and teacher with many stories shared by his former students over the years.

Bob and Elizabeth moved to East Loon Lake where they had built a beautiful camp that was their pride and joy for more than 50 years. Many special memories were made and will always be remembered by the family.

Bob will lovingly be remembered by his wife Elizabeth of 72 years, his three children Cathy (Rob), Michael (Jessica) and Kevin (Cindy), seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff from Southbridge Pineview, Dr. Ruby Klassen and Thunder Bay Hospice for their care and compassion.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or Shelter House, which had a special place in Bob’s heart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
