Sharon was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1942 but spent most of her life in Thunder Bay. She grew up in Westfort and was always a Westfort girl.

Sharon had two loves in her life, her family and her career at Thunder Bay Telephone (now Tbaytel).

As General Manager of Thunder Bay Telephone and Corporate Services she was instrumental in bringing internet and cellular services to Thunder Bay. She loved her job and respected and cared for her employees, most of whom she knew by name.

After retiring from Tbaytel, Sharon served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the town of Marathon for several years. She and Ken enjoyed their time in Marathon.

During her career, Sharon served on numerous boards and committees in various roles. Some of the roles she felt a special connection to are the President of Canadian Independent Telephone Associations, the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of Confederation College, Chair of Marathon Non-Profit Housing, board member of Northland Transportation Commission, Chair of Northwestern Ontario Tech Centre, and Vice Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. She was very proud to serve her community in so many different ways.

Sharon was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, her beloved daughter Kendall, her dear sister, Sheila Olson, and her parents, Clarence and Irene Otway.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Marissa and granddaughters, Giana and Elise, of Minneapolis, son-in-law Richard Depres, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cheryl and Jim McCallum and nieces Melanie, Meaghan and Caitlin McCallum.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hogarth Riverview Manor FLR 2 N Lavender for their care and support during Sharon’s final days.

As per Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
