It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Sokoloski on November 1, 2023, at the age of 83. Steve passed away surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 26, 1940, in Fort William, Ontario, Steve was a hardworking, ambitious, and talented individual. Steve was employed as a welder at Great Lakes Forest Products for many years retiring in 2003.

A sociable man, Steve formed many lasting friendships throughout his life's journey. His kind and friendly nature endeared him to all who knew him. As a devoted family man, Steve shared his many passions with his children and his grandson. These included camping, skiing, fishing, hunting, and music. He enjoyed helping others in need and had a generous heart. Steve taught his children essential life skills, resilience, and how to find joy in life. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he will be remembered for filling his family's lives with laughter, curiosity, and adventure. May you forever rest in peace Dad.

Steve’s memory will be cherished, and deeply felt by his wife of 57 years, Penny, and their son, Steven (Sheri). His love will live on through his grandson, Steven. He is survived by his siblings Jonny, and Dolly (Tom), as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Steve was predeceased by his son Christopher, brother Peter, parents Steve and Sophie and many extended relatives.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and the exceptional nursing staff on the 2B wing at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and compassionate care.

Interment will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
