Sumie McIvor

Mrs. Sumie McIvor, age 95 years, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Monday, February 13, 2023.

Sumie was born in BC. She spent her early years in Japan, returned to Canada and then relocated to Tashme, an interment camp during the war. Post-war, she and her family relocated to Manitoba. She graduated from the Salvation Army Grace Hospital as a nurse. She began her long career in Sioux Lookout, then Kenora and finally Thunder Bay, specializing in Labour & Delivery.

Sumie was predeceased by her husband, Donald, parents and 2 brothers. She is survived by her brother Jim, children Peter (Sharon), Marran (Glenn) and Earl, 5 grandchildren: Paul, Evan, David, Logan and Justin, and granddaughter, Ella.

Cremation has occurred. Celebration of Life and interment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
