It is with heavy hearts and immense gratitude for the life he lived that we, Melissa and Jody, share the passing of our dad, Terry Nuttall. At 72, Dad left this world as only he could—stubbornly, on his own terms, and with a legacy of love and determination that will forever shape who we are.
Dad was a lifelong resident of Hurkett, Ontario and is survived by his wife Dolores, his daughters Melissa (Kurt Bianco), and Jody (Brian Jardine), his grandchildren Jake, Charles and Brittany, his mother, Ethel Grace Nuttall, brother-in-law Donny Campbell, niece Ginger Campbell, brothers Craig (Wanda), Bruce (Claudette), James (Tina), and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his Father James Louis Nuttall, Father in-law Bill Campbell, Mother in-law Florence Campbell.
Dad’s deepest love was for his family. He and Mom, Dolores, shared 51 years of marriage filled with loyalty, laughter, and memories that we’ll cherish forever. As parents, they taught us the value of hard work, honesty, and unconditional love. As a grandfather, Dad’s love shone brightest, whether it was showing up for Jake, Charles, and Brittany or simply making them feel like they were the center of his universe.
We grew up hearing stories about dad’s adventures with his cherished friends, whether they were flying, fishing, hunting, or pulling pranks. He treasured his friendships he built over the years, each relationship adding its own special chapter to his life’s story.
Our dad was a force of nature. He was never one to sugarcoat anything; you could always count on him to tell it like it was. But beneath that no-nonsense exterior was a man with an incredible capacity for love, even if he didn’t always show it outright. Except, of course, with his grandchildren who saw a softer side of him that melted our hearts. They were his greatest pride and joy, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
And then there is Ebby and Boomer, his beloved dogs and constant companions. They brought out another layer of Dad’s tenderness, and we know they’ll be missing him as much as we do.
Dad had a spirit that couldn’t be contained. From a young age, he set his sights on big dreams and made them happen. He earned his pilot’s license before he could even drive, a testament to his boundless determination. Throughout his life, dad had key supporters who believed in him and encouraged him to pursue these dreams. These people stood by him in thick and thin, supported him in meeting these goals.
Dad was a risk-taker and a doer, never afraid to dive headfirst into a new adventure. He took things on with courage and grit. He embraced life with a "go big or go home" attitude, and he was always up for "one more"—whether it was a laugh, a drink, or a story.
Dad taught us to chase our dreams, to face life with courage, and to hold our loved ones close. His memory will be our guiding light, and though we already feel the weight of his absence, we know he’s soaring free now—probably with a grin, ready for whatever comes next.
Thank you to the emergency/acute care nurses and doctors at the Nipigon Memorial Hospital who took such excellent and compassionate care of our dad in the last few days.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone in need.
You were our rock, our teacher, and our biggest inspiration. Dad, may you fly higher than ever before, finally reunited with skies you loved so much. We will carry your love and memories with us always, and you will forever be in our hearts.
