It is with great and overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of William at the age of 86. He was born and raised in Port Arthur. The greatest day of his life was when he married the love of his life, June, on August 18 1962. They just celebrated 62 years of marriage and loved each other more than anything. They had 2 children, Sherry and David, both their pride and joy. He was an absolute family man, nothing was more important to him. He also had a very special bond with his mother Marion and never let a single day go by without speaking to her. Another special bond was with his only grandchild Carys. She meant the world to him and his eyes would light up when he saw her. He had 2 sisters, who he absolutely adored, Gloria and Bonney.

His career was at Powell Equipment until he retired. He was also an accomplished carver. He belonged to the Thunder Bay Carvers Association. He loved to carve birds the most but did several other carvings that he shared with family and friends. He was so proud of his carvings and the birds were so detailed and lifelike, people were amazed by his talent. He enjoyed fishing and his gun club. He loved all animals especially dogs and pugs were his favourite. He also travelled with his family but his favourite trips were to Schreiber, June’s hometown. He loved his mother-in-law, Viena. He was always so happy to see her and she treated him like her son. He had many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews too numerous to list that he loved and cherished the moments he could spend with them. He was always a happy, easy going man but could be stubborn, June kept him in line. He was a man of faith and was a long time member of Corpus Christi Church. He loved to joke and play pranks and had an infectious laugh. That was the Billy side of him. Everyone has a Billy story!

In his last years, he spent a great deal of time with his brother-in-law, Ed. We thank Ed and Norma, his sister-in-law, for all the help with him especially in the last year. We also want to thank the Manor House for giving him such a wonderful experience over the past 2 years. We want to thank all the doctors and nurses and caregivers. Special thanks to Carole for all her nursing care and friendship that she provided him in the last 6 months.

He is also survived by his brother Del and daughter-in-law Kelly, mother of Carys. Predeceased by mother Marion, step-father Bill, mother in-law Viena, father in-law Dave.

There will be no funeral and cremation has taken place. A private service will be held with interment at St. Andrew’s. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Manor House ADP, Alzheimer Society or Thunder Bay Humane Society.

Bye Billy!
