Ontario Liberal Party candidate Stephen Margarit says out of the 13 ridings in northern Ontario, "Thunder Bay- Atikokan did the best" in liberals votes out of all of them.

Progressive Conservative candidate Rick Dumas humbly concedes his campaign for Thunder Bay-Superior North. In his concession speech, he thanked all of his supporters and volunteers for a job well done stating, "maybe the next election we'll get there."

Lise Vaugeois celebrates being re-elected in Thunder Bay-Superior North. Vaugeois held off challenges from Rick Dumas (PC) and Brian Hamilton (Liberal). She's expected to give a speech later this evening.

The NDP's Sol Mamkwa has comfortably re-taken his seat at Queen's Park with a commanding lead in the polls.

Kevin Holland has been re-elected in Thunder Bay–Atikokan

The MPP gave his victory speech at Whitewater Golf Club less than 30 minutes after polls closed in Ontario. 

“But how about those numbers?” he said to his supporters. “I’m going to tell you I’m yet again humbled but he support that the residents have given to me tonight.”

The election has been called for the Conservatives and there is an optimistic crowd here Pocket Change in Thunder Bay. Progressive Conservative candidate Rick Dumas said he is “very excited” to see the results and hoping by the end of the night he’ll be bringing “your voice” to Queens Park.

It’s a really exciting moment, says Liberal candidate Brian Hamilton, and he's ready to “let the people decide.”

“Our whole team has worked so hard to get us to this point and now we're on the precipice.” Hamilton says all the parties have had contrasting visions on what they want to see for Thunder Bay–Superior North, and added that the Liberal platform is where the community wants to go, in his opinion.

Polls are closed!

Across the province, poling stations have shut their doors and the first ballots are now being counted. Results will start coming in soon.

Lise Vaugeois and her supporters will be spending the evening at The Outpost pub at Lakehead University. Vaugeois says she’s excited tonight and that she’s gotten a lot of “enthusiastic support” on the campaign trail.
