It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Charles Bye (Chuck) who left this world January 1st, 2024 at the TBRHSC at the age of 87 years.

He was predeceased by his mother Violet, father Arthur, and brother James Bye.

Born August 27th, 1936, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Chuck lived a life marked by dedication and service to his family and his community.

He spent 39 proud years working with Bell, retiring at the age of 55. Chuck embodied an infectious positive outlook on life, truly celebrating every day, and sharing many laughs and sweets along the way. He moved through life with an innate curiosity and affinity for learning. Chuck was an extraordinary jack of all trades with a love of carpentry and a mastery of all the little details. He will always be remembered for his kind and generous heart, and his ability to put a smile on the face of anyone he encountered with a warm comment, smile, or the perfect delivery of a joke.

He is survived by his wife Sandra (McMuldroch) Bye, his son Randy Bye (Natasha Desjardins) of Thunder Bay, his grandson Benjamin (Sara Britt) of Thunder Bay, granddaughter Britney (Mike Sansom) of Riverview, NB, his daughter Cathy (Trent Wehrhahn) of Calgary, AB, his granddaughter Carlee (Vanja Krtolica) of Calgary, AB, as well as six great grandchildren who he adored.

As per Chuck's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. The family simply asks you carry on his memories and genuine love of life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be made to one of the charities he was passionate about, including the TBRHSC and the Salvation Army, reflecting Chuck's spirit of generosity and concern for others.

As Chuck would say, every day is a gift, and the joy of having him in this world was a true gift.

Cheers to Chuck.
