The family of Dawn Almgren are very saddened to announce her passing January 24, 2025 at Nipigon District Hospital.

Dawn was born in Saint John, N.B. to Martha and Edward Danells and was one of 10 children.

Dawn attended Beaconsfield school, Saint John High and Kings business college. After working several jobs she decided to move to Red Rock. She then worked in the office at the mill for many years. In the latter part of her working career she worked as a client service advisor for NOAM in Nipigon.

Dawn married Edwin G. Almgren and together they had 4 children and celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Dawn gave many hours to volunteerism over the years - Minor hockey, recreation committee, figure skating club, emo committee, boy scouts group committee, United Church Council, Red Rock Historical Society. Dawn along with two others formed the first Welcoming Committee.

Her resilience and calm nature held her steadfast through many a family crisis and losses and she always handled everything with such grace.

She left this world on her own terms with the assistance of the MAID program.

Here greatest joys were her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. After them came spending her summers down East at the ocean, after that was having her friends in for lunch or a tea party.

Dawn was predeceased by her husband Eddie in 2023, her son Kevin in infancy, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Dawn is survived by sons Brent and Gary, daughter Treena (Shawn), six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson, sister Lynn (Donnie) Tobias, brother Calvin (Marilyn), sister-in-law Judy Danells, Gordon & Rod (Lola ) Almgren, Lorraine (Gabby) Harvey, many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service and the scattering of her ashes will take place in the Bay of Fundy at a later date.
