Mrs. Donna Mae Bacvar (nee Yarema) age 77 passed away November 12th with her daughters by her side after a short illness.

Born September 10th, 1947, in Fort William Ontario she attended St. Peter School.

She was employed at Grandview Lodge before having her daughters, and later in life worked at the Slovak Legion Branch 129.

Donna’s favorite hobbies were yelling BINGO, playing the slots on her casino trips and her many mini vacations to Portage with Frank.

She also treasured her shopping trips with the girls to Duluth.

Her biggest joys in life were spending time with her family and friends.

She met her husband Frank in 1975, married the following year and had two daughters.

Always the loudest fan with her foghorn, everyone knew what team her daughter played on and the team she was cheering for.

Donna finally got the sons she never had, even though it was through marriage she treated them as her own.

Later in life she found immense happiness in her two grandchildren.

Going to every activity from school plays, soccer games, gymnastic competitions and all activities no matter what.

She spoiled them absolutely rotten to no one’s surprise.

So many special moments, like sleepovers with endless snacks, shopping, movies, trips to the Dells and so much more.

Recently she was extremely proud to see her granddaughter graduate from college and walk across the stage.

Donna always had an open door for anyone in need, be it an ear to listen, a meal to spare or bed to sleep in, you could count on Donna.

Her kindness was beyond compare; however, you would have to be prepared to sit through some unfiltered comments, jokes and famous one-liners.

Donna is survived by her loving husband Frank, daughters Jennifer Zawadzki (Mark) and Amanda Bacvar (Matt), grandchildren Kali and Kaleb. Sisters Sharon Milani (Jack), Debbie Simeoni (Robert), Stephanie D’Angelo (Mark) and Angela Tront (Don) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by her father Emil Yarema in 1952, her mother Sophie Bilavich (nee Furik) in 2001 and Marie (Cookie) Visser in 2014 and several aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place, and a funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Church on Thursday, November 21st, at 11:00 am.

Many thanks to the nurses and PSW’s of Bayshore and the nurses of 2A at TBRHSC who took care of mom up until her last day.

If friends so desire in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter’s Church renovation fund or Diabetes Canada.
