February 25, 1945 – March 4, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Elaine Marie Zazula (nee Mazur), age 80 years, announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 peacefully in her home.

Elaine was born on February 25, 1945 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in Westfort and went to Westgate CVI. Living most of her life in Thunder Bay, Ontario she also lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Williams Lake, BC. Elaine worked as a Registered Practical Nurse at several hospitals where she cared for many patients ending her career at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

As a single mother, Elaine invested her life into her son James. Whether it was to support him playing hockey or test him to ensure he would do good at school, her love and devotion to her son were unmatched.

Every year, Elaine would look forward to spending time with her grandsons, Zane and Tave. There would be many outings to Chippewa, the Marina or other adventurous locations for kids. She enjoyed her daily phone calls with her son to see what he and the grandsons were up to, even though they lived far apart. She loved her grandchildren very much and always ended the conversation with, "please tell Zane and Tave, Nanna loves them" and a “love you” for her son.

Elaine will be deeply missed by her son James (Lisa) Zazula; grandchildren Zane and Tave and sister Ollie Macchi (Dante). She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Olga Mazur, her former husband George Zazula, her brother Joe Mazur (Ivy) and sisters Elsie Agnew (Ken), Eleanor Guse (Bob) and Marie Labate - Thompson (Donald). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

As per Elaine’s wishes, cremation will take place. A small service in Celebration of Elaine's Life will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Private interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery for immediate family.

Should friends so desire, donations can be made in memory of Elaine to the charity of their choosing, and this would be greatly appreciated.
