With broken hearts the family of Mr. John Edward King announce his peaceful passing in Hogarth-Riverview Manor on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the age of 83.

John was born and raised in Lafontaine, Ontario. After completing grade 6, he ended his formal education to work at an early age at the tobacco farms, where he would stay for several years. Later he went to work in the bush with his brother. This would eventually lead him to his “happy place” in Graham, Ontario, where he lived while working in northern bush camps for Bowater, from which he retired after 27 years. John was an avid fisherman and hunter. He would fish and hunt for hours on end, whether he caught something or not.

John will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 50 years, Louise (nee: Quesnelle); daughter, Tina (special son-in-law, Shawn); the lights of his life, his grandsons, Huston and Preston; granddaughter, Mellissa (Tylor); great-grandson, Braysen; brother, Louis; sisters-in-law, Helen, Jane, Audrey, Jean Anne (Bob) Dion, Nancy (Vince) Blondin, and Susan Quesnelle; as well as many nieces; nephews; other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edmond and Alma King; brothers, Raymond (Angeline), Bernard; Pat and Paul; sisters, Rena (John), Alida (Armand) and Gorgette; niece, Lorie Lynn; nephew, Roland; and father and mother-in-law Gilbert and Bridget Quesnelle.

We wish to thank all the staff of Hogarth-Riverview Manor for their kindness and support during his stay.

Cremation has taken place and services will take place in Penetanguishene on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10:00am in St. Ann's Church. Interment will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in memory of John to the Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
