It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Val was employed by the Day Co. of Canada, prior to joining the O.P.P. in 1957. Dad gave 30 years of dedicated service. Beginning in Port Arthur, then Beardmore, Armstrong, Thunder Bay, Elmvale and Barrie, Ontario. Val was also an original member of the O.P.P. pipes and drums. He was also a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Val was predeceased by his father Joseph Ivan Lafontaine, mother Joan Lorna Adduono, stepfather Leonard John Adduono, his loving wife of 60 years Betty, daughter Lori, son-in-law Rick, granddaughter Rachel, daughter-in-law Carolyn, brother Ivan, sister Theresa, stepbrothers James and Leonard Adduono, stepsisters Leona, Judy and Betti.

Val is survived by daughter Michele (Ron) Doran, by sons Valmond Jr.,  Yvon, Rene (Anna), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, cousins and relatives as well.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the TBRHSC and St. Joseph’s Hospital for all your care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
