It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother with her loving family at her side. She is predeceased by three sisters, Anna Woit, Norma Basso and Mary Pellizzari and brother, Peter Basso. She attended St. Peter’s School and St. Patrick’s High School. She married Jerry Sgambelluri, October 17, 1959 at St. Dominic’s Church. Her greatest passion was her family. Visits with all her children and grandchildren were extremely special, especially Sunday spaghetti when the family was all together.

Margaret was an amazing cook and passed on her talent to her children and grandchildren. Her gnocchi, ravioli, perogies, haluski and cheese, crostolli and other prize recipes will continue to be tradition and enjoyed by her family. She loved to sing and play the accordion and guitar. Some of her favorite memories were playing the accordion and guitar at her mother’s house at Christmas, singing oldies and Christmas carols. She never passed up on an opportunity to travel. Vegas, California, Greece, Disney World and treasured trips to Kelowna to see her daughter Elaine, Kyle, Devin and Adam. Margaret loved going for supper and the casino with her goddaughter Michelle. She also enjoyed when her godson Brian took her to St. Patrick’s Church teas and the casino. She had wonderful life long friends; “The Golden Girls” (Mary, Carmel, Monica, Irene, and Annette), Nives, Carol and Sharon and greatly missed Rosella, Lillian and Colleen. Margaret enjoyed living at Leila Greco especially reconnecting with Elsie, a childhood friend. They sat together during supper and had a lot of laughs. Margaret loved spending time with Evelina, praying the Rosary, watching movies, having snacks and going on excursions. Everywhere she went she made a lasting impression and new friends from camping at Graham to her weekly meetings at Tops. Margaret always remembered everybody’s birthday, even the great nieces and nephews who looked forward to their birthday cards every year.

Margaret attended St. Agnes Parish for over 51 years and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Jerry Sgambelluri and is survived by her children Cathy Bevilacqua (Terry), Lynn Piccolo (Sal), Paul, Elaine Stanfield (Kyle); grandchildren, Branden, Callie, Sarah-Anne, Rebecca, Preston, Ashton, Devin and Adam.

Margaret has been cremated. A funeral mass will be held on Monday March 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at St. Agnes Church. A private burial service will take place at a later date.
