January 27, 1963 – March 4, 2025
Mr. Morris Allen Benson, age 62 years, passed away peacefully with family by side in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Morris was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on January 27, 1963 to Sandy and Mary (nee Jeremiah) Benson. He worked for many years in Carpentry, before taking a job as a Core Cutter at Musselwhite Mine. Morris enjoyed the outdoors and fishing but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, who were all so important to him. His big heart, sense of humour and kindness will be missed by all. He was always very quiet but had an aura of strength that surrounded him.
Morris is survived by his children; his siblings Naomi Augustine (Don), Gary Benson (Peggy), Rose Benson and Dorothy Adams (Bruce); his step-mother Bella Benson as well as his many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and extended family.
He was predeceased by his mother Mary and father Sandy Benson; his grandparents; his step-sister Pearl Slipperjack and brother Herbert Keeash.
A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, with Pastor Randall Crowe officiating.
Morris will then be transported back home to North Caribou Lake First Nation, leaving Thunder Bay on Friday morning. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 am, in the Weagamow Lake New Life Pentecostal Assembly Church with Pastor Colin Kanate officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Weagamow Lake Community Cemetery.
