It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend, Allan Lindsay Warren, who passed away in his sleep on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Allan was born on August 14, 1939 in Heron Bay (or possibly elsewhere, accounts vary). Like most kids, dad was a very active child. When he was young he was hit by a car and almost lost his ear. His mother took him two days on the train to have the ear re-attached. He did not cry at all on the train ride.

Allan joined the cadets at age 12 and fondly remembered times on the East Coast throughout his life. He liked to hang out in McKenzie which is how he met his future wife Irene, through her brother John. They were married (Allan and Irene, not John) on August 15, 1959, and welcomed their first son Vance on February 4, 1960 (don’t do the math).

When they first married they lived in a dirt floor house with bare plank walls. It was so cold that Vance’s diaper once froze to the wall. Though their marriage was at times tumultuous, they brought 5 children into the world and were married until Irene’s death in 2016.

Allan had a variety of jobs over the years, including logger, clerking at A&P, heavy equipment operator and finally as a foreman at Link Steel.

Allan loved many different activities and sports over the years, including golfing with his family, hunting with his nephew David and grandson Tyler, curling with his wife and crosswords with himself.

Allan is survived by his mother Georgina Kaukinen, his sister Diane Watson, his children Virginia Warren (Jeff Rand), Alanna Capar (Richard) and Trevor Warren (Mary), grandchildren Tyler Grant (Nicole), Kaylee Campbell (Lance), Christopher Rand (Sandra), Brady Rand (Mariam), Kenny Rand, Jadyn Warren and Serena Warren, and by great grand children Olivia, Tristen, Sophie, Katie, Gavin, Valerie, Jaro and Zayn.

He is pre-deceased by his father Edgar, his wife Irene, his sisters Alma, Leona and Linda, his brother Gerry, his children Vance and Valerie, and far too numerous relatives and friends.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Pioneer Ridge for their wonderful treatment of Allan in his final days.

A celebration of Allan’s life will take place on Friday, July 28 from 3pm-6pm at 317 Longbow Street. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in Allan’s name.

You taught us all a lot, we’ll miss you dad.
