Mrs. Amalia Gigliotti passed away peacefully at Southbridge Roseview Manor on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Amalia was born in Lago, Cosenza, Italy on March 5, 1928, the daughter of Santo and Giustina DeLuca. She came to Canada in 1954 and married the love of her life Rosario Gigliotti and together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Amalia worked at Dawson Cleaners until her retirement. She enjoyed fruitful retirement years, growing her beautiful garden during the summer months and trips to Mexico during the winter. She enjoyed cooking and baking for Rosario and all others who visited.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband Rosario, brother Giacondo and his family, niece Giuliana (Frank) Ceci and family, nephews Santo (Jane), Gino (Sandra), Frank (Darilyn) and Vincenzo Jr. DeLuca and their families, brother-in-law Francesco Gigliotti as well as by other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Santo and Giustina DeLuca, father-in-law Francesco Gigliotti, mother-in-law Teresina Gigliotti, brother Vincenzo DeLuca and sister-in-law Livia DeLuca.
The family would like to express our many thanks to Dr. Noetzel who, as her family doctor, looked after her for many years, as well as to Charlene, Lisa, Jackie and the rest of the wonderful team of caregivers at Roseview “Our Angels” and lastly a thank you to all of the family members and dear friends who took the time to visit with her during her time at Roseview.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.
Those wishing to attend virtually may do so at the St. Anthony’s Church Youtube page. The visitation for friends will be held for 1 hour prior to service time in the church. The entombment will follow at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum.
