Mrs. Bonnie Jane King, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital with family by her side. Bonnie was born in Toronto to parents Don and Annie (Nan) Wellington. As her father’s work moved the family to several locations, Bonnie was educated in various parts of Northern Ontario. Bonnie always spoke fondly of her years in Hearst, Ontario. On January 22, 1973, she married Don King, and they remained inseparable ever since. Working for years as a legal administrator for various law firms throughout Thunder Bay, she branched out to be an instructor in the Law Clerk Program of the Ontario Business College. Subsequently she went on to become a licenced paralegal and set up her own paralegal, public notary/consulting business – King Konsulting Services. Bonnie was well known in the legal community as for many years she taught and mentored individuals who then moved onto various careers in the legal sector.

She was an active member of the Lakeshore Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and assisted in cases involving religious freedoms.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Don King, and sisters Connie (Terry) Travers, Candace (Jody) Oppen, Shelley Tringali, and nephews Nathan Tavers and Aaron Wroblewski. Predeceased by her parents Don and Nan Wellington and her sister Pennie Wroblewski.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Cancer Care, to Dr. M. Ibrahim and Dr. M. Sellick and to the staff of Thunder Bay Regional Oncology Unit, and to the volunteer drivers of Canadian Cancer Society who provided transportation. The help provided by various community support organizations enabled Bonnie to be cared for at home for almost one full year. Bonnie spent 42 days in the Hospice Unit at St. Joseph’s and received exemplary care by the whole team throughout her stay. The family would like to also express a big thank you to the nurses and staff.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1034 Oliver Road Thunder Bay, ON with a zoom connection available.
