On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Catherine Manelick died close to her 102nd birthday.
Born May 14, 1923, to John and Harriet (Dufault) Reed in Baird Township.
During WWII, mom joined the RCAF working in supply division in Rivers, Manitoba and after in Schreiber for the CNR. While there, she met her future husband, Alex Wanzuk. They settled in Blake Township and had 7 children. After dad’s death in 1963, mom married William Manelick.
Surviving are children Anita Mirabelli (✝Peppino), Edith MacNeil (✝George), Christina Sawchuk (Russell), Peter Wanzuk (Jan), and Teresa Ward, and numerous grandchildren. Mom is also survived by her sister Mary Malcolm.
She was predeceased by parents, 2 husbands, children Phyllis Shepstone (Peter), and Alfred Wanzuk, grandchild Dustin Wanzuk and great grandchild Cassandra Cheryk. Also predeceased by brother William Reed, sister Ellen Eickmeier, Hazel Belanger, and Margaret Smith-McCallum.
Maintaining her faith gave mom the strength to raise a family and endure life’s hardships.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Holy Family Church, Rosslyn with Vigil Prayers beginning at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4th,2025, at Holy Family Church when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
