1936-2025
Shirley passed away peacefully to her heavenly home with family by her side on Monday February 17th, 2025. Shirley was born in Port Arthur Ontario and spent her early childhood in Nolalu, Ontario where she enjoyed swimming and spending time with her pet duck Peku and watching her Mom milk the cows in her high heels. In 1955, Shirley married Ernest Smith and had two children, Jennifer and Donald. Shirley enjoyed working in the ladies department at Sears for over thirty years and loved to help others with a big smile. She also enjoyed travelling to far away places with her daughter and spending many hours with her grandchildren. Shirley loved various animals, especially dogs belonging to her family. She always had treats for them. She loved the Lord and enjoyed praying with others, including those who called into 100 Huntley Street for prayer. Shirley had such a heart of compassion for those in need. She will be fondly remembered by her surviving family; daughter Jennifer (Doug), her son Donald (Carole), grandchildren Hayden (Grace), Jasmine (Spencer). Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Toivo and Lily Siira, her brother Donald, and her husband Ernest. In recent years many smiles were brought to her face by her favourite PSW’s at Bethammi Nursing Home, including her friends, Edith and Nance. A celebration of Shirley’s life was held privately by her family on February 23rd, 2025.
