It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Edward DeCorte Sr., at the age of 77 years. Ed passed away peacefully in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Friday, October 20, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. He had many ailments, most recently Dementia, but he found the Western Door to start his journey. Ed has now found his peace.
Ed was born on February 18, 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of 7 children born to Belgium immigrants, Arthur and Augusta DeCorte. Ed had a long career as a Truck Driver and made many friends over the years. He met Victoria Wadow and they were married on August 24, 1991, raising their family and creating a beautiful life together. Ed's passion was his family and spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids always brought him the most joy. He was a longtime member of St. Agnes Church and his faith was important to him.
Ed will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Vicki; sons Ed Jr. (Lily) and Chris as well as his pride and joy, his grandchildren Zakk, Brynlee and Abby. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family, and by his very special pal, dog Chase.
He was the last surviving member of the original DeCorte family. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Augusta (nee Vispol) DeCorte and siblings John, Armand, George, Jim, Fred and Margaret.
