It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our husband, dad and Nonno in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Ennio was born October 1, 1928 in Fano, Marche, Italy. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 21, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and made Fort William his home.
He learned the importance of hard work and family at a young age. He was trained in Italy as a draftsman and enjoyed designing many buildings, schools and homes. Many families in Thunder Bay over the years had the opportunity to share in his talent and love of design as he helped them create their dream homes. He continued to design homes for people well into his 70’s. In his retirement years Ennio enjoyed his daily walks around the neighbourhood just as much as his visits from his grandchildren and grand furbabies. He shared in his daughters’ love of all animals. Every afternoon he enjoyed his routine of a cappuccino with some sort of dessert to satisfy his sweet tooth, while Bobby John (cat) waited patiently for a piece to fall.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to have known Ennio would agree that he was the most kind, gentle, humble, honest soul. His 3 daughters held him in the highest regard. They have always had the utmost respect and admiration for this beautiful man who they have been blessed to call Dad.
Ennio provided an amazing model as to what a loving, respectful marriage looks like. His adoration and love for Minia was evident to family and friends through his daily kind compliments, hugs and kisses.
Ennio is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Giuseppina (Bevilacqua) Dellacecca, sisters Silvana and Luisa, along with many other relatives and good friends.
He is survived by the love of his life for 63 years, Minia, as well as his 3 daughters Anna Rooney (Jamie), Patricia Dellacecca (Dale Smiegielski) and Barbara Parnham (Dan) and 5 wonderful grandchildren Tara, Shelby, Benjamin, Cameron and Kate.
We are incredibly grateful to all of the agencies and support staff who offered Ennio and our family excellent support which allowed him to remain at home where he was most comfortable. A special thank you to his nurse Eric who went above and beyond during Ennio’s last 2 years, he became part of our family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Blake Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Interment to take place at a later date. As per his wishes, there will be a private family service.
