ERVIN LAWRENCE CHOQUETTE
March 27, 1942 – December 18, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ervin (Erv) Lawrence Choquette, age 81 years, announce his unexpected passing on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Ervin was born on March 27, 1942 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to Lawrence and Eileen Choquette He started working at the early age of 16, when he started sailing on the green ships on the Great Lakes. Ervin met the love of his life, a Westfort Girl named Sharon Melnyk. They were married in 1963, and went on to raise three kids and established a great life in Westfort. He spent some years working in the Grain Elevators and dabbled in real estate, before getting hired by Greyhound in 1975. Erv adored his job as a Bus Driver, loving the freedom of the road and not having a boss looking over his shoulder.

In 1985, Erv purchased a modest fishing resort near Beardmore, Ontario, which he named “Paint Lake Cottages”. For many years he balanced running the resort with his job at Greyhound. In 2000, Erv sold the resort and fully retired in 2002; however there was always a place in his heart for Paint Lake Cottages, right up until the day he died. Following retirement, Ervin's best times were spent with family, relaxing in his lounger or tinkering with small projects around the yard while watching his grandchildren play. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be truly missed by us all.

Ervin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharon; daughter Corinne (Dan) Bekiroski and son Colin (Annette) Choquette; grandchildren Alyson (Myles), Jordan (Hanna), Jake (Sam), Josh (Amy), Matthew, Cassidy, Luke and Erin as well as his great-grandchildren Marley, Leah, Cole and Hudson. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Roxanne Keating as well as his parents Lawrence and Eileen (nee Koski) Choquette.

The family would like to thank the staff of TBRHSC – Emergency and ICU for all of the care and compassion shown to Erv and our family, particularly nurses Danielle, Kaitlyn and Jaret.

As per Ervin's wishes, a private interment has already taken place in Mountainview Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Ervin to SickKids would be greatly appreciated.
