It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John (dad). He passed away peacefully at Southbridge Pinewood.
Pre-deceased by his parents Rocco and Nora Rossetti, father and mother-in-law Ferdinand and Jeanne Landry, wife Gisele (nee Landry), son Danny, brothers Frank and Carlo, Niece Treena, brothers-in-law Lt. R.O. Roger Landry and Roland Landry, sisters-in-law Dolly (nee Damery) Landry, Carmen (nee Mattussi) Landry and Edith (nee Cyr) Landry. He is survived by his daughter Linda (Normand), son John Norman (Myles), sisters-in-law Cheryl Rossetti, May Rossetti and Suzanne Coggins, brothers-in-law Rheal Landry and Don Coggins. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
John was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Port Arthur, then went to school in Westfort (Thunder Bay). First employment was C.N. Railroad. Married in 1951 at St. Agnes Church to Gisele Landry. Then moved to Smooth Rock Falls, ON. Employed by Abitibi Paper Mill for a number of years. After his children were on their own, he was transferred to White River and then to Thunder Bay Abitibi Mission Mill where he retired after 35 years. He received many acknowledgments from Abitibi for all the work that he did for the company.
John was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and Da Vinci Centre. He also accepted the position President of the Parish Council of St. Dominic’s Church when the new church was built on Redwood Avenue in 1982. He was available to help in any way or position that Rev. Rizzi and Rev. Dan needed.
Cremation has taken place and funeral Mass we be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11am in St. Dominic’s Church, celebrated by Rev. Michael Mahoney. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
