It is with deep sorrow we announce that Jeanette Mildred George, age 95, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Jeanette was born on June 23, 1928, in Fort William, Ontario. She chose a career as a waitress while raising her family of six children but, true to her heart, she was always trying to serve food to whomever came to visit… right until her final days. She was a wonderful cook and made the best spaghetti sauce and hand-made gnocchi. A discussion between some of her grandchildren concluded with the agreement that the secret ingredient was “Grandma Love”.

She found great joy in gardening, knitting, crocheting, and dancing at the Legion (especially when her brother Reg was playing). She also enjoyed travelling and spent time in Florida during the winter months. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and most of all, she loved her grandchildren. They meant the world to her!

Jeanette will be sadly missed by all her surviving family, including her three sons, Michael (Lisa), Pat (Yvonne), and David (Mena), and two daughters, Claudette, and Linda (Bruce), as well as 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Ambrose (Jock) William George, and their daughter Sandra Ann Niemi, and numerous loved ones.

Many heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers that took great care of her during her time at Chartwell and thank you as well to the friendly nurses at the Thunder Bay Regional and St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Luigi Filippini officiating. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so at the Sargent and Son Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
