MARGARET MCCARTNEY
January 4, 1943 – December 9, 2023
Margaret Noreen McCartney, age 80 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 in Hogarth Riverview Manor.
She was predeceased by her husband George Edward McCartney in 2010. Margaret was the daughter of William and Frances Wills (nee Bell). She was born on January 4th, 1943 in Glasgow, Scotland. She came to Nova Scotia, Canada by ship with her parents when she was 8 years old. Later they moved to Toronto.
While Margaret was in Toronto she had the privilege to be part of the Billy Graham Choir in 1967. Margaret loved to sing gospel songs, like her mother who also had a lovely voice and loved music. Margaret married her husband George at St. Andrews Presbyterian church in June 1989. He was her soulmate. She loved to go to church on Sunday and everyone enjoyed listening to her beautiful voice. She spent her last years at Versa Care, now Southbridge Lakehead and then moved to Hogarth Riverview Home (SJCG).
Thank you to the staff at both the homes for the kind loving care they provided to Margaret
over the years. She will be sadly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Margaret will take place on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at 1:30pm in the Hogarth Riverview Manor Chapel, 300 Lillie Street N., officiated by Rev. Joyce Yanishewski.
Interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery, where Margaret will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, George. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
