It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Lance, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bob fought a valiant five-year battle against cancer, displaying remarkable strength and resilience, until his passing with his wife and children by his side on November 17, 2023.

Bob was married to the love of his life, Catherine Lance (Ladigen). They recently reached an incredible milestone, their 50th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated this past summer.

Family was the most important aspect of Bob’s life. He is survived by his loving daughter, Carey Murphy (Jonathan) and their two sons, Trapper and Hayden. Bob is also survived by his devoted son Matt (Carla), and their two daughters, Fiona and Edith. Bob cherished his family above all else and his legacy of love, dedication, and laughter will continue to shape the lives of his children and grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings David, Donna, and Georgina. They maintained close relationships throughout his lifetime despite being separated by distance.

Bob wanted to express his deepest gratitude to his dearest friends. His closest friend, Murdoch McKay, was an integral part of his life. They forged a bond through shared laughter, camaraderie, and epic fishing adventures on Lake Superior. Friends Ab and Marylou Covello, and Tom and Nancy Eaton were also instrumental in bringing light and laughter, even in the darker moments.

Bob and his family would also like to thank the entire team at Performance Kia for their unwavering support and companionship throughout his career.

One of Bob's greatest joys was spending time with his friends and family at his home in Amethyst Harbour, where he found solace and happiness. It was there, surrounded by the serenity he loved, that he peacefully bid farewell to this world.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Centre in Bob's honour. His team of health care providers were simply fantastic over the years which meant so much to Bob and his family.
