Shirley Rea (Siciliano) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2023 at the age of 88 at St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Shirley was born at St. Joseph’s hospital in Port Arthur to Rose Siciliano on February 16, 1935. She was raised in the East End by her Nonna. She attended St. Peter’s and St. Patrick’s schools as a young girl.

Shirley met the love of her love Jack Rea at a dance over 70 years ago. They were married October 17, 1953 and welcome 4 children.

Shirley stayed home and raised their children. She enjoyed reading, having company over for tea and sharing stories about growing up in the East End.

Shirley always said she had a good life, except for when her and Jack lost their daughter Nancy 16 years ago. Loosing Jack last August was also a devastating loss for Shirley.

Shirley will be forever missed by her children David, Lois (Stan) Myslicki, Doug (Brenda), 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Special cousin Beverly Erickson and other cousins also survive her.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jack, daughter Nancy, mother Rose, step-father William Kowalchuk, her Nonna Annunziata Siciliano and Grandfather Salvatore Siciliano. She was also predeceased by Aunts and Uncles.

Shirley’s family would like to express their greatest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and support staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion towards Shirley during her last days.

Funeral Mass for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 11am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Prayers will be offered on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 6pm at the Blake Funeral Chapel by Rev. Rey Ronquillo, with visitation to follow until 8pm.
