Sue Langer passed away October 28, 2023 after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July.
Born and educated in England, Sue emigrated to Canada in 1961 where she met Werner through the YMCA Weekenders Club in Toronto. They married in 1962, welcoming a daughter and son a few years later, and lived in Mississauga until 1972 when they moved to Thunder Bay for Werners’ work as a woodworking teacher at Selkirk.
Sue worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for various companies before changing careers in the early 80’s and working with Complementary Health techniques. She was instrumental in bringing Reflexology, Thereapeutic Touch and Healing Touch to Thunder Bay and her delight was to introduce others to energy work and to assist them to begin to view life from a different perspective. Although she knew it would not happen in her lifetime, her dream was to plant the seed that would eventually result in Complementary Health wing at the hospital come into being.
At various points in her life she held positions on the Boards of The Reflexology Association of Canada, Pinegrove United Church and the Vickers Heights Community Association, volunteering her time to help others. She also volunteered with Hospice Northwest Circle of Friends, finding much joy in meeting and working with the people involved. Sue retired as Practitioner and Teacher several times, always drawn back into the work she loved, helping others in their self-healing. She enjoyed her garden and nature, reading, music, craftwork of various kinds, and loved to square and round dance.
Predeceased by her husband Werner, Sue will be missed by daughter Diane (Ajax), son Andrew (Ottawa), as well as many friends that she made during her work and her teaching. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal celebration of life. Instead Sue’s wishes were that each celebrate in their own way – play a drum,plant a tree, hold a full moon celebration, light a candle, listen to a favorite piece of music, walk in the woods or on the shore, dance, or take a Therapeutic Touch Class.

Simpson and Ward, NP Ahola and the people at the Cancer Centre as well as nurses of ParaMed for their compassion and care in the last few weeks of our mother's life. We would also like thank
