With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Veneranda Cavezza on August 25, 2023, at the age of 85.

Veneranda was born on February 23, 1938, in Tufino, Italy and immigrated to Canada and married her husband, Felice on December 30, 1961. She spent the next 62 years nurturing a beautiful life for her family. Veneranda, along with Felice, raised 3 children, Rose, Lou and Nick in a home based on love, hard work and the love of God. She spent her time as a stay-at-home mother always ensuring a hot meal was on the table, the house was spotless, and the garden was looked after. It was not uncommon to hear Veneranda recite poems and songs that she learned in Italy while in school. Veneranda shared many things with her children and grandchildren including how to make delicious gnocchi, one of her many sweet treats and homemade wine!

Veneranda will be deeply missed by her daughter Rose (Chris), son Lou (Tammi), and daughter in- law Linda. Also, left to mourn are her grandchildren: Chris (Krystle), Anthony (Shauna), Cassandra (Jean Yves), Ryan (Stephanie) and Jennifer (Stefan) as well as her great-grandchildren: Luca, Kaleb, Sawyer, Aria, Hayden, Easton, Henry and Elena. She is also survived by her siblings Immaculata Foglia, Antonio (Teresa) Perna, Bart (Jackie) Perna, Caroline (Antonio) Vacchiano and sister in-law Giuseppina Napolitano (In Italy) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Felice, son, Nick; parents, Nicola & Maria Perna, sister Lucia Silvano, brother Michele "Mike" Perna; daughter in-law, Cathy Cavezza as well as many other loved ones.

Visitation will be held in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 6:00pm with prayers to follow at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in St. Agnes Church on Brown Street. The Mass will be livestreamed and viewable through the St. Agnes Church Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Veneranda to St. Joseph's Care Group or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Foundation would be appreciated.
