The family of Anna Ruth Hayward sadly announce her passing on September 18, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family, after living many years with Parkinson Disease.

Ruth was born in Fort Erie, ON (the youngest of 8 siblings) and grew up on the family farm built by her parents outside Shillington, ON. She learned the value of hard work, and carried this into the varied jobs she was employed at, from glass factory worker, to industrial sewing and as a greenhouse worker in our Centennial Conservatory. Family trips were always much anticipated and destination was always other family members!

Mom and dad spent many happy summers at Whitefish Lake, enjoying visits from the family and friends and looking forward to each sunset, hopefully enjoyed from the boat.

Ruth had a strong Christian faith and shared it lovingly with those around her, mainly by the way she lived her life and cared for others. Those close to her take great comfort in knowing she is now free of pain and at peace in God's loving arms. She will be remembered for her faith, her love of family, her generous nature/sense of fun, being a hard worker in her church community and her willingness to lend a hand, and for the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes.

We will hold her memory dearly in our hearts and think of her with every sunset.

Ruth is survived by her loving children Patty (Brian), Daisy and Rose (Sylvester), grandchildren, Gregory and Ian, Ashley and Wayne, and 6 great grandchildren, siblings Thelma (Jack) and Marjorie, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives from coast to coast who all cared for her deeply.

Predeceased by husband of 51 years Clarence in 2008, parents Violet Sarah (Nigh) and John St. Clair Montague, siblings, John, (in infancy), Harry (Mina), Roy (Joyce), Irene (Reg), and Florence (Hubert) , brother-in-law Raymond.

A private family service is being planned.
