Anne Chicorli

Posted

After a long and well-lived life, Anne Chicorli (Shchepanik/Harapiak) passed away on September 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Anne was born on May 14, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Helen (Kubas) and Louis Shchepanik.  Anne grew up in Raith, with her parents and four brothers: Walter, Stanley, Peter and Frank. In 1954, Anne married Nelson Harapiak and together they welcomed two daughters, Barbara and Donna.  Tragically, Nelson died in 1963 as a result of a mining accident. With the help of her parents, Anne was able to care for her two daughters until she met Harry Chicorli, a wonderful, single, Ukrainian bachelor! They married June 4, 1966 and spent a wonderful 54 years of marriage together. Harry and Anne had a full life together enjoying their camp at Sturgeon Bay, travelling to sunny places, short gambling trips, being active with the Church of the Holy Cross and of course trying to keep up with their two grandsons.

Anne is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara Harapiak (Ron Woit and Cassandra), Donna Brown (John, grandsons Trevor and Rory), sisters-in-laws Amelia and Eileen Shchepanik, Ellen (Al) Whitehead, Cornelia Halabecki, and Connie Halinda along with many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by first husband Nelson and second husband Harry (2020), her parents and four brothers.

We are grateful to Dr. Olga Kisselgoff of TBRHSC, Dr. Ward, Theresa and all the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Anne.

Special thanks to the staff at Bayshore for helping Anne remain at Isabella for as long as she did.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for both Anne and Harry on Monday, September 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross Hall, 415 Victoria Ave, W.  If friends should so desire, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice.
